Mondays With Mark : Finding Your Imagination
Posted on 10/17/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
Sometimes it feels like life it too hectic to even justify indulging your imagination. However, I would argue that developing your imagination is a powerful way to improve your life. As many wise people have pointing out through the ages, the greatest achievements of our lives (and as humans in general) have begun in the imagination. How did those big ideas come to be? It took a lot of practice with little ideas each day. The little ideas, given time and attention, grew bigger and bigger. When you exercise your imagination it grows stronger. I bet you already use your imagination each day...

Mondays With Mark : Generosity
Posted on 10/3/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
I love these quotes. In the first we are looking at generosity as part of developing personal happiness. And then, in the second, our friend, the intrepid explorer Jacques Cousteau, points us to generosity as being a path to connection with others and the world as a whole. Sometimes you might hear that a particular person is generous or has a generous spirit but it is the constant practice of being generous that creates that effect. Do you practice each day? Is generosity part of your daily routine? Can you think of small acts of generosity from the last week that you have given or...

New Dental Office Posting Requirement
Posted on 9/30/2016 by Cory Roletto, WEO Media Partner/Owner
On October 16, 2016 dental offices that have federal assisted dental patients (Medicare or CHIP) are required to display notifications in the office, on website, and on marketing materials. These requirements come on the heels of a final ruling from The Office for Civil Rights (OCR) onSection 1557 of the ACA. For dental offices, notifications need to be posted in the top 15 non-English languages in your state and include local contact information to request translations services for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has...

Mondays With Mark : Adventure
Posted on 9/26/2016 by Rosalea Admin
Some adventures we are certainly interested in taking – say a trip to an exotic, tropical island. Yet, the authors today are referring to a larger type of adventure – a life adventure. Helen Keller puts it a pretty fine point on it by connecting the danger/security facet directly to the value of the experience. Life is an adventure or nothing. I don’t know about you but I don’t really see myself as much of an adventurous person. I know plenty of people that love to take on risky activities and savor the adrenaline rush when things get a little bit dangerous....

Mondays With Mark
Posted on 9/20/2016 by Rosalea Admin
I have to say that I’m quite proud of my daughter in general, but especially so today after witnessing how she faced her uncertainties and undertook a new challenge in running her first race – a 5k road race. As a 9 year old, that tends to be self-conscious, facing a new experience of running a race with about 400 other people (mostly adults) was certainly daunting. As we lined up in the slowest pace section and the count down to the start was ticking down under a minute, the cold wind brought with it chilly drops of rain. Ah, September in Oregon! I’ve been reflecting on...

Mondays With Mark
Posted on 9/5/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
As the summer is ending and autumn is beginning I was reflecting on those big transitions that we resist or embrace. On the one hand, the ending of something we are familiar with and accustomed to can be quite difficult and sometimes painful. It seems natural to not want a good thing to end. Ironically, it can happen that we don’t want a bad thing to end just because we are used to it and are uncertain about what will come next. On the other hand, the beginning of something new brings excitement, hope, opportunity, and often, some amount of trepidation. The back-to-school...

How Important Are Facebook Page Likes?
In the online world, being liked is an indicator of success. You have a page, people like it, you're successful. Or you make a post, people like it, you're successful. Right?
Posted on 8/30/2016 by Wendy Hensley, Marketing Manager
With recent updates by Facebook to their newsfeed algorithm and the decrease of business page content showing up in users' newsfeeds, it's harder than ever to get your content out to your users and use those likes as an indicator of success or failure. When the like button was introduced in 2009, it was the tool Facebook used to determine what users wanted to see more of in their newsfeed. Remember when you simply had to increase your likes to get more engagement? Facebook took the data from the likes and then showed users relevant information based on what they liked. For example, if a...
