Google+ separated from small business listings.
Posted on 2/9/2017 by Bryce Admin
Google is always shuffling around and re-prioritizing its various web properties based on how useful they are to internet users and their advertising customers. Two of the most important properties for small businesses on the internet are Google+ and Google My Business. Between these two Google properties, there has been a lot of crossover in functionality. Up until fairly recently, the two platforms where very closely integrated. So much so that a dentists' Google+ pagewastheir Google My Business listing. Google has recently completely separated business listings from the Google+ platform....

Dental Branding - Colors Have Meaning
Posted on 1/24/2017 by Wendy Hensley, Marketing Manager
Choosing the right color to associate with your brand is an integral piece of the marketing strategy. This color will be featured prominently in your logo, on your website, on all your collateral pieces, etc. It needs to associate well to the brand story you've created for your practice but also have longevity and can grow with your practice as it grows. Although it's tempting to pick your favorite color and move forward from there, if you don't take into consideration the psychology of color, you might be alienating potential patients and hurting your practice. Colors bring out strong...

Dental Branding - The Power of a Photo
Posted on 1/11/2017 by Wendy Hensley, Marketing Manager
Once you have your logo and brand story in place for your practice, the next step is to start developing your design elements. These elements will go into your website, brochures, flyers, etc. and should be reflective of your brand and office style. One of the most important elements you'll need to create are your practice and staff photos. Photos of the doctors, staff, and rooms within the practice give you the flexibility to showcase your office and connect with potential patients. Photos don't just show them what to expect, they also help your potential patients visualize themselves in...

Dental Branding in a Nutshell - Why is it Important?
Posted on 1/4/2017 by Wendy Hensley, Marketing Manager
Branding - which includes logos, images, fonts, colors, and your practice story - are all so important for your image. If you want to build your practice, you want to build your brand. Your brand is how your patients will recognize you. It's what helps set you apart from your competition. If your brand is an afterthought for your practice, your practice will be an afterthought to new patients as well. Marketing company: "Do you have a logo?" Dentist: "I do. Mondays With Mark : Great Struggle
Posted on 12/6/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
Struggles come in many forms. As I was reviewing various quotes about the concept of struggle – and there are a great many of them – I realized that they were only hitting on part of what I was trying to put my finger on. So let me tell you a story and maybe that will help. My lovely daughter is afraid of shots. It isn’t hard to understand as many people fear having to get shots and frankly, sometimes shots hurt a lot. But she is very afraid and worries incessantly about any shot that may occur in her future. I find it amazing how, as parents, we instinctively wish to...

Mondays With Mark : Doing Good
Posted on 11/28/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
From poets to politicians the Siren song of service to others has echoed through the ages. As we enter the Christmas season (which apparently starts at the beginning of October now) there will be increasing opportunities to help and serve others in the community. Some families even have traditions centered around service at this time of year. What a great thing to do. Being good by doing good is certainly a noble thing to do yet it is only the most superficial benefit of helping others. The authors today point us toward an even more compelling reason to get “service oriented.”...

Mondays With Mark : Give Thanks
Posted on 11/21/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
Most people underestimate the importance of giving thanks. It is easy to have a thankful feeling when you receive something that you already know you want but that is just the very surface of it. As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches we usually spend a little more time at least recounting the various things we should be thankful for. Sometimes those items are not as cut and dried in terms of landing squarely in the “Yes, Thankful” column. Can you think of one thing where your feelings of thanks are a little more complicated? I bet you can. I offer up today that a thankful state...

Facebook Live Video and your dental practice
Posted on 11/18/2016 by Wendy Hensley, Marketing Manager
You've no doubt seen that many organizations and companies are jumping on the Facebook Live Video bandwagon now that the tool is gaining popularity among Facebook users. But is this a tool you could or should try for your practice? Live video differs from regular Facebook video because it is truly captured live. It allows you to have real time interactions with your followers, share behind the scene moments, and engage with new followers in ways that standard video does not. Engaging with your followers can greatly increase your front-of-mind awareness and brand perception. Here are a few...

Mondays With Mark : Change
Posted on 11/14/2016 by Mark Hutchinson, Partner at WEO Media
When I reflect on the idea of change and how it effects people I often come back to surfing and skiing. In both of these sports your ability to stay relaxed and to perceive the reality of the environment is the difference between enjoyment and frustration, and perhaps even suffering. Life itself has much in common with these two sports endeavors. It may also be why many proponents of skiing and surfing treat it more like a life philosophy rather than merely a sport activity. In fact, we can learn quite a lot about effective ways to live from these sports from the novice to expert levels....
