We are going digital! |
|
Our office is excited to make the conversion to digital study models this summer. This means no more plaster! Alginate impressions and an occlusal record are sent to a lab, which scans and converts them into digital study models. These models are transferred back to our office electronically, and are viewable by our software that displays a 3-dimensional simulation of the teeth.
With this software, Dr. Burn is able to view the patient's occlusion in stunning detail and from any angle. She is also able to make extremely precise measurements using this progam, some that are impossible to make on traditional models. It has also proven to be an excellent visual component to our consultations with patients, as the digital models are exceptionally suited for sharing and display.
This software is also able to create digital treatment simulations, which is quite valuable in cases requiring restorative planning and/or advanced tooth movements. This is a huge improvement over traditional plaster and wax setups, and is very easy to share with our colleagues. Communication is the key!
We are excited to be able to offer this advanced level of care to our patients. If you would like a demonstration of the digital modeling capabilities, please stop by our office anytime.
As always, we thank you for your referrals and continued support. Your patients are our top priority, and our aim is to provide them with the highest quality orthodontic experience possible. |

Dr. Burn's UW Teaching Update
|
|
Did you know that Dr. Burn is on the orthodontic faculty at the University of Washington? For the past four years, she has been the course director for ORTHO 521, a lecture course for the 2nd year dental students. Her class covers the fundamentals of orthodontic diagnosis, biomechanics, and introduction to treatment considerations. Dr. Burn has also worked to provide the 60+ dental students with hands-on experience in orthodontic record analysis (models, ceph tracing, etc). She really enjoys getting to know her students, and making her course a welcome reprive from the daily grind that 2nd year dental students endure in their other classes. This course is held each Spring, and the latest edition concluded last week with the final exam! |
